10 Days Remain to Apply for GSE Trip to India

Our Rotary District, 5240, will sponsor 4 professionals between the ages of 25 and 40 to visit the state of Uttar Pradesh, India, in January 2008 as part of the Group Study Exchange program of The Rotary Foundation. During the three-week trip, the participants share personal knowledge of their own country and experience the customs, vocations and lifestyles of another.

The purpose of a Group Study Exchange is to promote international understanding and goodwill through person-to-person contact. While abroad, team members stay in Rotarians’ homes and have the opportunity to meet their professional counterparts. They also give presentations to Rotary clubs and other groups about their home country.

The Rotary Foundation provides a round-trip air ticket and local Rotarians in the host country provide meals, lodging and group travel in their district. Team members pay for personal and incidental expenses.

People interested in applying should be employed full-time in a recognized business or profession. Young professionals ages 25 to 40 are encouraged to apply. The application deadline is August 15, 2007.

* For an application or if you have questions, please contact Janet Napier, District GSE Chair, at (805) 965-7260 or e-mail janetnapier@cox.net.

President’s Note: This is an amazing opportunity, and I highly encourage anyone who is interested to apply. This is not the sort of thing to procrastinate about — it’s a trip to India that you will never forget at a price (nearly free) that you may never be offered again.
