While the cats lounged around, a team of Rotaract members painted the outside of the cat and tortoise (oh yes, tortoises!) enclosures.
We learned that tortoises will cross great distances — even 30 feet or so — if tempted by the color red. Considering that was the color we were painting with (and the color that Kelly had painted her toes), it made part of the day like a very slow-moving game of dodgeball.
Our hosts, ResQCats owners Mitch and Jeffyne, took good care of the volunteers. We not only got a tour and plenty of opportunities to pet kittens, we also enjoyed cold drinks, bagels and brownies.
Many more photos of the critters and the volunteers are available on the photos page.
