In case anyone checks the site at the last minute…
However, someone will be at the meeting spot so any stragglers also know that we’re not going to go mud sliding as a group tonight.
And now a word from our Social Chair Michelle:
Join us for Rotaract’s first happy hour of the new year on Friday, January 25th at the Sandbar on 514 State Street. The fun starts at 6 and there’s 1/2 off appetizers and 2-for-1 drink specials. Cheap food, cheap beer! What more could you ask for!? Hope to see you all there!
This June, the 2008 Rotary International Conference comes to Los Angeles. Considering this is truly an international conference, it’s incredibly convenient to have it in our backyard.
The conference is June 15-18, but Rotaract clubs from all over the world meet a few days earlier for a Rotaract pre-convention June 12-14.
The event is an opportunity to strike up conversations with people from all over the world. We can find out what sort of activities other clubs do, what traditions they have, how they’ve helped out in their communities. There’s also an international shopping center of sorts in which people sell goods from all over. For the Rotaract portion, we have the opportunity to join in some special trips — like a party on the Queen Mary, a tour of Sony studios, a performance at the Hollywood Bowl or dancing on the Sunset strip. We’ll also be able to partake in a service project at Griffith Park, and I think it involves frolicking around a huge park with kids!
The conference is $80 if you sign up before March 31. Once we figure out who’s going, we’ll meet to decide if we want to pay extra for some of the special events and how we can arrange for inexpensive housing while we’re there.
To sign up, print the form found here, fill it out and fax it in. Rotaract members cannot sign up online.
