Reminder: Tonight’s Meeting

Tonight’s meeting will be held at Santa Barbara Bank & Trust, located at 1021 Anacapa St, in the Lancaster Room. We will have a guest speaker, member spotlight, and many announcements so please don’t miss it. We begin promptly at 6:30 PM.

Downtown Rotary BBQ Mixer

The downtown Rotary club is putting on their annual Family BBQ on the 19th and wanted to extend an invitation to you and the other members of Rotaract to attend the event.  The BBQ will provide an opportunity for members of Rotary and Rotaract to interact in a social environment over food, beer/wine, music (http://www.glendessaryjam.com/history.html), and line dancing (Lisa Stecker will be leading some post dinner dancing lessons).  If anyone from the Rotaract club is interested in attending, as well as friends of members, feel free to have them get in touch with Tracy York by email (tracy@nozaresearch.com) or cell at (805) 441-2554.  We are asking that people pre-register before the event so we have a good idea of how much food we will need day of.

37th Annual Fiddler’s Convention

The Fiddlers Convention is a day long celebration of American Folk Music at Stow House in Goleta sponsored by the Rotary Club of Santa Barbara Sunrise.

Come out to volunteer and enjoy a day of music, fellowship, and sunshine!  Anyone with a fiddle, banjo or other Appalachian type instrument can come out and play, participate in a jam session, or compete for cash prizes!   Don’t have an instrument?  Bring yourself and your vocal chords!

Rotaract has been asked this year to help in this exciting event to inspire and foster love for music.  Let’s bring together children and adults from the local community to enjoy and appreciate America’s rich musical heritage!

The Fiddler’s Convention will be held on October 5, 2008 from 10AM-5PM at the historic Stow House in Goleta.  Please contact Jennifer Wang for more information or if you would like to volunteer.  Volunteer admission is free.

BizBuzz 2008

Anyone interested in attending the Non-Profit Center’s BizBuzz 2008 Event, please e-mail Evan at evan@techease.com.  As an event sponsor, he can put you on the list to receive free admission.  Normally $40/attendee, it’s a great networking, development, and educational event for local non-profits.  Send him your first and last name, the names of anybody at your organization who may wish to accompany you, and your organization’s name.  Don’t forget to swing by their booth to say hi, and attend his table talk at 9:30.  He’ll be sharing some impactful yet budget-conscious changes non-profits can make to dramatically enhance their organization’s effectiveness.  And he might bust a rhyme.  You never know.

BizBuzz 2008 takes place Wednesday, September 10th from 8:00am-10:30am at the Fess Parker DoubleTree Resort.  http://www.supportcenter.org/bizbuzz/
