August Night Hike

Hello everyone! It’s that time of the month again… TIME FOR A NIGHT HIKE!

This month we’re going to have a nice & easy moonlight stroll along Carpinteria Bluffs on TUESDAY, AUGUST 24, 2010.

We’ll be meeting at the Starbucks parking lot on Old Coast Road at 7:30 to carpool to the bluffs. Feel free to bring friends, dogs, and BEVERAGES & SNACKS. We’d like to make a bit of a social event of it as our energies won’t be consumed by trekking up mountains, etc. so please bring your favorite beverage and cookies, cheese, crackers as desired– it should be a beautiful night!

Please RSVP to cmgustason@gmail.com or reach me at (661) 332-7741 so we know who to expect. See you there!

June 15 Meeting

Come join us during our last Rotaract meeting of this Rotary year while we stop to smell the roses! Our second June meeting is tomorrow, June 15th at 6:30pm. We will be meeting in the grassy area by the Mission Rose Garden. Please bring something to sit on (blanket, towel, lawn chair) if you don’t want to sit directly in the grass. You are welcome to bring some food with you if you’d like since it will be dinner time and we aren’t meeting at a place that has food.

Here is a link to check the weather for tomorrow. It will probably be in the mid/low 60s when we meet, so remember to bring a sweater!

Rotaract Survey

Kevin, a graduate student from Illinois, writes:

I’m part of a team of graduate students at Northwestern University (in Evanston, IL) who are working on a project for Rotary International. We are gathering input from Rotaract members from the US and Canada. We are gathering feedback from a handful of clubs and are hoping yours will participate.

I’m writing to request that you distribute this survey to members of your Rotaract club and ask for their participation. The goal of the survey is to better understand Rotaractors’ attitudes toward Rotary as we tackle a project given to us by Rotary International’s general secretary, Ed Futa. We would be extremely grateful for your help in distributing this brief survey.

Please take 5 minutes and complete the survey here.

Welcome the Rotaract Club of San Luis Obispo to the Family

You may not recognize all the faces in the photo above. That’s because some of them are members of the Rotaract Club of San Luis Obispo, our neighbors to the north.

They’ve been doing great stuff for years under the leadership of Founding President Dominic Tartaglia. Now, the club celebrates its official charter.

Up for a mini road trip? We’re invtied to attend the Charter Celebration on March 13 at 6 p.m. at the Tartaglia Ranch* in San Luis Obispo. Please RSVP to Holly Dragovich at hdragovich@gmail.com by March 6 to ensure that they have enough steak, salad, garlic bread, ranch beans and cake for everyone. This event is BYOB — bring your own beverage. Adults may bring adult beverages.

* Please ask Holly for the ranch address or Tara, Liz or David. Since this is a private home, we are not posting the address on the blog.

Thanks to the GVB Volunteers

Come With Us to Disneyland

A friendly reminder that it’s not too late to sign up for a volunteer day in exchange for a day pass to the Happiest Place on Earth – Disneyland! You can pick any event, but a bunch of Rotaractors are planning on working with Goleta Valley Beautiful this Saturday, Jan. 16 at 1PM.

You can sign up at this link. Just search by zipcode: 93117 and it should be the first result. Once you sign up and send a message to Ken Knight, you’ll get back an automated response. Tell Ken what event you want to work at and he’ll confirm then you can confirm with the Disney site.

If you have any questions, just email us at info [at] sbrotaract.com
