Thanks to everyone who came out to help at Arroyo Hondo Preserve. We dug, planted, mulched and watered all morning long. When we were finished, we had helped native plants reclaim a corner of the reserve.

In a similar vein, another opportunity has recently presented itself, this time from the Rotaract Club of Columbo, which is the capital of Sri Lanka. 10 participants are chosen for the 9 day trip. The trip does not include airfare, visa, or health insurance. You are responsible for those things.

Meet us at Pinkberry at State and De La Guerra at 5:45pm if you’d like to help us represent Rotaract and Santa Barbara, it will be fun! The football game is San Marcos High School vs Oxnard and we’ll caravan as a group after dessert.

We would love to have you join us September 13th at a Haitian Night celebration that will be raising funds to support Fonkoze of Santa Barbara! Fonkoze provides micro-loans and banking services for a rural community in Haiti. The first shift is from 1-2:30pm helping to set up for the event, and volunteers from 5-8:45pm will help serve dinner and assist in take down. Those at the later shift will be able to have some of the dinner and watch the Fonkoze presentation. Event is in the Parish Hall at Trinity Episcopal Church. Check out this wonderful article on Rotary.org about a youth exchange alumni who is now a Rotarian and member of UNESCO.
Noirtin would like to see more Rotaractors take what he calls the “natural next step” and become Rotarians. Working side by side on projects, he says, is the best way to make the transition smoother.
Happy 3 (and then some)-year anniversary to the Rotaract Club of Santa Barbara.
Thank you to all the Rotarians who have supported the club through these formative years and to the Rotaractors who make it so much fun.
We had a fantastic party at the Dos Pueblos Ranch beach. Thanks to our wonderful hosts and caterer Lori Cordova of the Vandenberg Village Rotary Club. See more photos of the 2009 anniversary party here.
