Our friends at Catalyst For Thought have graciously offered three complimentary tickets to their March 1st SYNC event. The guest speaker will be entrepreneur, VC, and CEO Kevin O’Connor who co-founded DoubleClick in 1995. Please contact officers [at] sbrotaract [dot] com if you are interested. You must be a member of Rotaract to take advantage of this offer.
There’s an opportunity for 2 Rotaractors, one from the north district and one from south, to be partially funded to attend the RI Convention in New Orleans. If you were on the fence about this before, this is definitely for you.
There will be $1,000 available for each of the two Rotaractors chosen. The estimated cost for the whole trip would be $1500-2000 so this would cover at least half of that. You can also certainly get creative to save on lodging, which is the biggest cost by far.
If you are interested, please contact a board member or Courtlin so we can nominate you. Please be prepared with a bio (1 page or less). For more information, check out this document.
Having attended two conventions in the past, I highly recommend it. You don’t fully understand Rotary until you attend these historic events.
The district has decided to send an Interact alum and Rotaractor to represent our district at the RI United Nations Day. To be eligible, a Rotarian must send an email nomination, on your behalf, to Donna Prenta (firstname.lastname@example.org) by September 7th.
If you have any questions, please contact one of the officers. For complete rules, click through.

Kevin, a graduate student from Illinois, writes:
I’m part of a team of graduate students at Northwestern University (in Evanston, IL) who are working on a project for Rotary International. We are gathering input from Rotaract members from the US and Canada. We are gathering feedback from a handful of clubs and are hoping yours will participate.
I’m writing to request that you distribute this survey to members of your Rotaract club and ask for their participation. The goal of the survey is to better understand Rotaractors’ attitudes toward Rotary as we tackle a project given to us by Rotary International’s general secretary, Ed Futa. We would be extremely grateful for your help in distributing this brief survey.
Please take 5 minutes and complete the survey here.
Just a friendly reminder that the District Conference is this weekend (Oct 23-25) in Ventura. It is not too late to register and the fee is very reasonable. Please click on the link above to find all the information you need.
For those already registered or who plan on attending, please coordinate with Tara (tara [at] sbrotaract.com) for carpooling. We are not spending the night so we’ll drive down and back each of the three days.
Do you need a suit for an interview? The Suit Outlet is offering a special for Rotary until July 4, 2009. Buy and suit and show proof of your Rotary membership and you’ll get 10% off the wholesale price AND our club gets a donation of 10% of the ticket price.
They are located at 1804 Holser Walk, Suite 115 in Oxnard.
Email us if you have any questions.
