Thanks to all who attended the Rotaract Holiday Party, the party organizers and California Pasta for donating dinner.
Here’s to 2010! The fun starts with our first meeting on Tuesday, January 5, at 6:30 PM at Silvergreens in Santa Barbara.
Thanks to everyone who came out to help at Arroyo Hondo Preserve. We dug, planted, mulched and watered all morning long. When we were finished, we had helped native plants reclaim a corner of the reserve.
See photos from Arroyo Hondo Preserve here.
Our meeting location for this upcoming Tuesday (11/17) has been changed to Sharkeez (416 State Street). We will be meeting on the back patio at 6:30pm. We look forward to seeing you there!
Join hundreds of volunteers and cheer for runners! Located in Southern California’s “American Riviera,” this point-to-point course begins in the scenic Goleta Valley with its lush lemon and avocado orchards, winds through Santa Barbara’s picturesque Mesa community, and finishes with a stunning two-mile descent to the sparkling Pacific Ocean. Finishers and their families can celebrate in charming downtown Santa Barbara with its abundance of quality shops, museums and restaurants, or hop on a wine-tasting or whale-watching tour for some adventure. Combining vibrant cultural sophistication with breathtaking outdoor splendor, Santa Barbara offers the ideal destination marathon. The Select Staffing Santa Barbara International Marathon is a USATF-sanctioned event and a Boston Qualifier. Volunteers should arrive bright and early (5:30 am) for course set-up. Coffee and treats will be available! Email liz@sbrotaract.com for more information.

Come help with the planting day on Sunday! We have about 250 plants to get in the ground. We have a “blank slate” for planting on Sunday. We’ll be planting Sycamore trees, large shrubs such as Lemonadeberry and Coyote bush, and small shrubs and herbs such as the endemic Santa Barbara honeysuckle and Hoffmann’s nightshade, as well as Mugwort and California sunflower. We’ll transform the area in one morning, planting, mulching and watering. And best of all, the preserve is open for tours and picnics after the planting! Email lucille@sbrotaract.com for details.
