Shop for Foster Kids

During Halloween, Rotaract volunteered for Downtown Rotary’s masquerade ball, raising thousands of dollars for needy foster kids. On Dec 15 and 16, after work. they are going shopping for holiday gifts for the kids. The time is TBD but defintely in the evening, after work. It will only take about an hour and I think it will promise to be very rewarding.

Dec 15 – Macy’s

Dec 16 – K-Mart (though this date and time conflicts with our general meeting).

If you are interested in helping on the 15th, please email me. david [at] sbortaract.com

Thanks!

Halloween Masquerade Ball

The Downtown Santa Barbara Rotary Club is putting on their annual fundraiser to benefit the foster Care Holiday Gift Giving Program. This year, they are putting on a Halloween Masquerade Ball to be held at the Santa Barbara Auto Group (Infinity, Land Rover, Jaguar, and Smart Car showrooms) at 7 PM to 1 AM on Halloween.

Rotaract members who work a short 2 hour shift plus clean up will be able to attend the event FREE. Rotaract members who are unable to volunteer but still would like to attend will be able to do so at a reduced rate.

Rotaract volunteers will be helping with event and drink ticket sales, and guest welcome/parking direction. Each shift will need to check in for brief training.

The shifts are staggered:

  • Shift 1: 6:30 to 8:30 PM
  • Shift 2: 8:30 to 10:30 PM (busiest)
  • Shift 3: 10:30-12:30 AM
  • Cleanup starts at 1 AM

Please contact Rotary’s volunteer coordinator, Denise Carrero to sign up. Please cc myself at david [at] sbrotaract.com

This information, with additional email will be sent to you via email.

Downtown Rotary BBQ Mixer

The downtown Rotary club is putting on their annual Family BBQ on the 19th and wanted to extend an invitation to you and the other members of Rotaract to attend the event.  The BBQ will provide an opportunity for members of Rotary and Rotaract to interact in a social environment over food, beer/wine, music (http://www.glendessaryjam.com/history.html), and line dancing (Lisa Stecker will be leading some post dinner dancing lessons).  If anyone from the Rotaract club is interested in attending, as well as friends of members, feel free to have them get in touch with Tracy York by email (tracy@nozaresearch.com) or cell at (805) 441-2554.  We are asking that people pre-register before the event so we have a good idea of how much food we will need day of.
