What: We’ll spread out to clean up part of the Ellwood Bluffs and the coastline.

Why: We don’t like trash in the ocean. And you can learn where the hidden trampoline is while getting service hours for Rotaract.

Notes: We’ll provide gloves and trash bags. If you have any trash-grabbing tools other than your hands, please bring those along.  I recommend bringing a water bottle. Snacks will be provided.

Goleta Rotary Christmas Party

The Goleta Rotary Clubs have invited Rotaract to join them at their Holiday party, held this year at the Santa Barbara Yacht Club. The event is on December 15 from six to nine P.M. with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres being served early on and then a dinner at 7 PM. The tickets are $65 / person.

If you are interested, please contact Barbara Tzur (barbara.tzur@brylen.com) or Julie (julie@hbarchitects.com) for reservations. Mention you are part of Rotaract for a potential discount in admission.

37th Annual Fiddler’s Convention

The Fiddlers Convention is a day long celebration of American Folk Music at Stow House in Goleta sponsored by the Rotary Club of Santa Barbara Sunrise.

Come out to volunteer and enjoy a day of music, fellowship, and sunshine!  Anyone with a fiddle, banjo or other Appalachian type instrument can come out and play, participate in a jam session, or compete for cash prizes!   Don’t have an instrument?  Bring yourself and your vocal chords!

Rotaract has been asked this year to help in this exciting event to inspire and foster love for music.  Let’s bring together children and adults from the local community to enjoy and appreciate America’s rich musical heritage!

The Fiddler’s Convention will be held on October 5, 2008 from 10AM-5PM at the historic Stow House in Goleta.  Please contact Jennifer Wang for more information or if you would like to volunteer.  Volunteer admission is free.

GVB Greenhouse

We will be working with Goleta Valley Beautiful at their greenhouse this Saturday 8/23 from 9A – 12P.

The Devereux Greenhouse is located along the unnamed extension of Storke Road that begins at El Collegio Road west of Isla Vista Elementary School and continue to Coal Oil Point.  One half mile from the intersection of Storke and El Collegio is a sign for Devereux Way, make a left and go up the hill for 50′ and make a right at the stop sign onto what is a circular road.  Go half way around the circle to an unnamed dirt road leading several hundred yards down to the Greenhouse.  You can park at the bottom next to the Growing Grounds/Greenhouse.
