Diary of a Rotaract Weekend

This weekend we hosted 6 Rotaractors from San Diego and 1 from D.C. Now we have more than 7 new friends (seriously) and a strong urge to go visit San Diego.

Here’s the short version of our weekend:
Friday night: It was late, and it was Goleta, which meant one thing: Freebird’sĀ burritos (and quesoritos) for all.
Saturday: We drove up the coast to the Arroyo Hondo Preserve to pull out thistle, improve drainage on a trail and prune along the way. Then we rewarded ourselves with lunch, cookies and loungingĀ at Goleta Beach. We hit the hot tub and then cleaned up to head downtown. While our guests had dinner at Paradise Cafe, some Santa Barbara Rotaractors got ready for the evening’s party. And then, we had an evening of, ahem, fellowship and lemon meringue pie from the Goleta Lemon Festival.
Sunday: We met up in the morning to visit the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History. We saw dinosaurs, bugs, gems and very large squid. Then it was off to McConnell’s for some ice cream and a farewell.
Thanks to everyone who was involved. Send your photos to david@sbrotaract.com, and we’ll add them to the photo set for the weekend.

Party With San Diego Rotaractors

We’re having a "Taste of Santa Barbara" wine night on Saturday, October 18th at 8:00 p.m. at Rotaractor Liz Werhane’s house.  Now’s your chance to sample some local vino, nibble on some tasty snacks and meet some fellow Rotaractors from the San Diego Club.  All you have to do is bring a snack/appetizer to share. And, if you’re so inclined, bring something that epitomizes Santa Barbara to reflect the theme of the night.  Need suggestions about what to bring or you want to RSVP?  Contact Liz at liz@sbrotaract.com no later than Friday, October 17th. Cheers!
